We have a fantastic opportunity for an Administrator at Bolton Council, this is a full-time temporary role for the next 3 months with the possibility of extension.

What is the role?

Bolton Council are looking for an Administrator, to assist the Business Manager in ensuring the SEND Assessment Service fulfils its statutory duties both effectively and efficiently

What are your responsibilities?

  • Provide advice regarding the EHC Needs Assessment process and the Annual Review process to the users of the SEND Assessment Service.
  • Work effectively with team members to help support and improve the work of the team.
  • Plan, organise and develop your work to meet specified requirements and deadlines.
  • To record, store and supply information.
  • Communicate information to relevant agencies using systems available e.g. ensuring initiation, amendments and ceasing of additional support is communicated to the schools finance service.
  • To support and maintain the use of information systems including databases
  • Assist in designing, creating and producing documents from various sources to specified deadlines.
  • Photocopy, re-produce, distribute and process documents.
  • Prepare and maintain documents for storage and archiving following Service and Council guidelines.
  • Receive, sort and co-ordinate the distribution of mail / email inboxes, including ordering and distributing specified goods and services.
  • Assist in the receipting, recording, monitoring and making of payments in line with policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • To assist with the management, organisation and scheduling of school admission panels.
  • Contribute to the setting up of meetings, between SEND Assessment Officers, parents and/ or young people and schools, including Annual Reviews of a child or Young Person's EHCP.
  • Attend meetings to take notes/minutes and produce appropriate final documentation, including transcribing and producing documents from recorded speech.
  • Deliver and co-ordinate a reliable reception service and develop customer relationships, including receiving and assisting visitors as required.

What skills do you Need?

  • Must have recent experience of working as an Administrator / Business Support Officer ideally for the local authority or housing association.
  • Strong IT Skills, as you will be using Microsoft Office, and internal council IT systems.
  • Knowledge of SEND would be desirable
  • Minute Taking experience will also be required
  • Excellent people skills, as you will be speaking to the public, other members of staff and managers.
  • It is essential that you can work at pace, and to strict deadlines as our work is dictated by statutory timescales.
