Senior Quantity Surveyor required for a SME contractor in London and the South-East, focusing on Rail / Civils and Buildings projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and managing project budgets, ensuring effective cost control.
  • Review and analyse project schedules, providing accurate forecasts.
  • Compile, review, and submit periodic applications to the client.
  • Evaluate and negotiate applications and contracts with suppliers.
  • Monitor and oversee variations, valuations, and final accounts for both clients and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with project teams to offer cost advice and feasibility assessments.
  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with specifications and regulations.
  • Prepare and submit progress reports, financial statements, and other necessary documentation.
  • Assess and manage project risks and opportunities.
  • Engage with clients and maintain regular communication with commercial counterparts.

Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate should have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably within the construction industry, spanning 10 years.
  • Experience in the Rail sector, particularly in building refurbishments and general civil projects.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts, regulations, and legal requirements.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft packages, including good report writing skills.
  • A self-driven and results-oriented approach with a positive outlook.
