Interim Category Manager

Reporting into the Senior Commercial Lead; leading and providing professional expertise to refine, develop and implement best in class Commercial strategies for the organisation.

A Public Sector organisation in Bristol.

Description

  1. Providing strategic input influencing a multi-million pound spend across the organisation (including, where appropriate, collaborative partners to achieve economies of scale and lower costs)
  2. Being accountable and delivering value for money contracts and associated cash savings for all Commercials, complying with all legislation (Public Contracts Regulations (2015)
  3. Leading, defining and managing key supplier relationships to deliver breakthrough performance in cost, service and quality, including technical input to negotiations on strategically significant contracts and negotiation and management of suppliers
  4. Providing leadership in specialist advice, guidance and service on Commercial practices to departments; leading in the identification, assessment and management of potential risks associated with differing sourcing strategies; providing insight through the analysis of spend, supply markets and savings, to promote the value that Commercial offers
  5. Responsibility for providing legal advice to departments and ensuring that legal challenges to the Commercial process are minimised
  6. Responsibility for leading, communicating and providing complex Commercial information to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  7. Managing internal customer feedback on relevant Commercial Colleagues and Supplier performance
  8. Proactively planning and organising sessions with internal customers to identify Commercial opportunities to lead to improvements in supply chain and cost reduction whilst maintaining or improving quality
  9. Inputting to Commercial policy and service development, including devising new policies and working practices to ensure legal compliance and performance against KPI's. Ensuring that these policies are properly implemented and complied with across client functions within the organisation

Profile

  • Deep level of Sourcing experience, with a demonstrable track record of savings delivery
  • Demonstrable level of negotiation and dispute resolution skill set
  • Demonstrable experience of contract law and financial management
  • Demonstrable experience of driving value from complex sourcing opportunities

Job Offer

  • 6 months contract (possibility to extend)
