Who we are

Selwood Housing Group is a not-for-profit housing association committed to providing affordable local homes for our customers. We have nearly 7,000 homes for affordable rent and shared ownership in Wiltshire, Somerset and Bath and North-East Somerset and employ over 300 staff from our offices in Trowbridge and Melksham.

The role

We are looking for an experienced Compliance surveyor to join us on a fixed term contract for 16 months. This is an excellent opportunity to have a measurable impact across the business, ensuring our properties are safe and maintained to the highest standard. As a Compliance project surveyor, you'll oversee the delivery of a variety of programmes across numerous core areas, including fire safety, water, legionella, asbestos, lifts, and gas. The one exception will be mechanical and electrical, which will not be part of this role.

Collaboration and communication are key to success in this position. Liaising with numerous teams, both internal and external, you'll manage contracts, chair regular progress meetings, and provide advice on programme quality, design and costs.

Personal development is of huge importance at Selwood Housing. Although this is a FTC, you can still expect support, training and development in order for you to both fulfil your role and explore your career development.

Your expertise will ensure the health and safety of our residents, staff, and contractors, while driving our commitment to provide safe, comfortable and accessible housing across the South West.

What we are looking for

For this role you will ideally have the following skills and experience:

  • HNC or CIOB in Building or Surveying or equivalent experience
  • Experience of maintenance management and/or construction management.
  • Demonstrable and proven track record working in Compliance Management within a Social Housing environment
  • Knowledge, understanding and some experience of how to manage contracts within budgetary constraints
  • Demonstrates understanding of the purpose of monitoring KPI's and has experience of contract monitoring
  • Ability to drive with access to a vehicle for business use.

What we offer

Our main benefits include;

  • 27 holiday plus bank holidays
  • 2 paid gifted days; one for your birthday and one over Christmas
  • Buy/sell up to 1 week's holiday
  • Life assurance
  • Flexible working opportunities - giving you flexibility on how long, where and when you work to support better customer service and promote a work/life balance.
  • Competitive pension (you pay 4%, we pay 4% or choose to opt into our enhanced pension scheme, where you pay 4%, we pay 9%)
  • Cycle to work scheme

At Selwood, we strive to respect the diversity of our staff. We care deeply about inclusivity and encourage candidates from all backgrounds, demographics, and identities to apply. We are a Disability Confident employer and will do our very best to provide any adjustments, access and equipment you feel you may need throughout the interview process, and during your employment with us.

We're keen to build a supportive and rewarding environment, free from discrimination, that works for everyone.
