Part Time HR & ER Specialist - 30 hours per week

We are a well established and successful international engineering and manufacturing company. Due to our continued growth and development as an organisation, we now require a dedicated Part Time HR and ER Specialist to join our existing team of 7 within HR to focus on a range of ER tasks across the business, supporting employees in the UK and Overseas in a range of departments. We can offer a 30 hour working week with a FTE salary of £45k equivalent to £36k for working the 30 hours per week. We also have an attractive benefits package including contributory pension, holiday purchase scheme, sickness insurance, a generous holiday allowance and annual company performance bonus along with a host of well being incentives too. We are also able to offer hybrid working up to 3 days WFH per week along with onsite parking.

The HR department is responsible for maintaining a supportive and compliant organisational culture that aligns with the company's strategic goals. It focuses on enhancing employee engagement, developing management capabilities, and ensuring that employment practices support commitment to fairness, employee development, and high performance. HR acts as a bridge between management and employees, facilitating communication and promoting the company's values throughout the workforce.

The HR/ER Specialist is pivotal in managing and resolving ER issues, ensuring fair and consistent application of policies and disciplinary procedures. This role oversees the investigation process for complaints and formal grievances, mediates disputes, supports the implementation of performance improvement plans and disciplinaries and capability processes. They also serves as a point of contact for employee concerns, aiming to foster a positive work environment and maintain legal compliance across all Operating companies.

The role will therefore cover a range of HR and ER areas whilst working alongside your colleagues within the HR Team.

To be successful, you should ideally have the below skills and experience:-

Experience in case management in a non-unionised environment with extensive demonstrable detailed experience in managing a variety of disciplinary, capability and disciplinary matters as well as managed exits is required for this role.
Demonstrable experience with UK employment law and best practice, especially regarding case management and disciplinary/grievance procedures. Knowledge of Right to Work and sponsorship regulations.
Demonstrable understanding HR policies, procedures, and best practices including. absence, flexible working and family friendly leave policies, to ensure legal compliance and provide accurate advice.
Experience in coaching/supporting managers through various HR processes from probationary reviews and performance management to implementing disciplinary and capability processes.
CIPD Qualification – minimum level 7 (or Graduate CIPD) or equivalent.
