The Role: You will be responsible for carrying out routine reactive and planned maintenance of the site equipment. You also will be expected to resolve any process, equipment or building issues that may arise which need special technical assistance. You will be required to undertake electrical and mechanical maintenance on laboratory equipment, utilities plant, electrical systems and lighting to ensure the smooth running of the business, in a cost-effective manner whilst meeting strict Health and Safety standards.
The Responsibilities:
- Creating a maintenance plan for the organisation's equipment
- Reviewing and updating the maintenance policies and procedures
- Ensuring that planned maintenance is carried out according to a schedule, in a timely manner and in accordance with relevant procedures
- Conducting frequent quality checks on equipment to ensure no unplanned maintenance is required
- Completing emergency maintenance when equipment breaks down
- Carrying out electrical and mechanical repairs
- Managing the budget for the maintenance of equipment
- Keeping a record of preventive and emergency maintenance carried out
- Ensuring downtime is kept to a minimum and maximising the plant and equipment availability
- Ensuring the organisation complies with safety regulations while maintenance takes place
- Liaising with external suppliers and contractors
- Managing the Site engineering projects
- Operating within a call out rota for one week at a time on call 24/7 to respond to breakdowns, leaks or alarms as required.
The Person:
- An HNC, City & Guilds or time served Electrical, Mechanical or Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer
- 3 years+ experience in a facilities maintenance role
- Experience within a similar role ideally gained within a GMP environment.
- Excellent fault-finding skills using root cause analysis.
- Project management experience highly desirable.
- In depth knowledge of pneumatic & electrical systems including diagnostic fault-finding.
- Must be able to attend to both mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks
- Good knowledge of HVAC systems is highly desirable
- Fantastic commination skills for interacting with suppliers, overseeing projects and managing budgets
- Negotiation skills and the ability to persuade others
- Ability to work under pressure
- Excellent time management skills and interpersonal skills.
