  • Salary: £75,000 - £85,000

We are seeking a professionally qualified Head of Finance to oversee our financial operations and lead our finance team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in senior financial leadership, preferably within the legal sector or professional services, and will be the first point of contact with external auditors. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent attention to detail and communication skills.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Oversee the preparation of quarterly management accounts and year-end accounts for review by the Director of Finance and Operations.
  • Act as the first point of contact with external auditors.
  • Oversee the submission of quarterly VAT returns and liaise with HMRC regarding VAT queries in collaboration with the Finance Manager.
  • Manage cash forecasting and assist in the preparation of the annual budget for submission to the senior leadership team.
  • Oversee bank, petty cash, and credit card reconciliations, ensuring the maintenance of all financial records.
  • Ensure chambers accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis.
  • Lead and develop a finance team of 3.
  • Provide and maintain a first-class, courteous, and professional service at all times.
  • Support an ‘open culture' between staff members encouraging the sharing of ideas and opinions.
  • Attend executive meetings as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Professionally qualified, ideally ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent
  • Education to degree level.
  • Extensive experience of senior financial leadership, ideally in a legal sector or professional services environment.
  • Experience of accounting systems and the ability to get maximum functionality out of these.
  • Demonstrable evidence of process improvement in respect of finance systems.
  • Ability to operate and think at a strategic level.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the clear presentation of information, both orally and in writing.
  • Proven ability to lead and drive projects.
  • Sound problem-solving skills, able to identify unique solutions.
  • Ability to motivate, mentor, and manage a team.
