We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Lecturer in History and Politics to join our Humanities section within the Sixth Form. This role is ideal for both experienced educators and new entrants to the profession, offering a chance to contribute to the growth of these vital subjects. Day-to-day of the role:

  • Teach on a range of programmes including AS and A level History and Politics, and GCSE History.
  • Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, and resource materials for teaching programmes.
  • Utilise IT and learning technology to deliver elements of the curriculum.
  • Integrate the delivery and assessment of key/core skills into the curriculum.
  • Assess students' progress regularly, providing timely feedback.
  • Participate in open evenings and recruitment activities to provide accurate information and guidance to potential students.
  • Carry out student inductions and academic progress reviews.
  • Act as a named tutor where appropriate, ensuring student attendance, retention, and achievement.
  • Prepare students for employability, career progression, and/or further education and training.
  • Contribute to curriculum management, quality assurance, and the College's performance management programme.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A degree in History, Politics, or a related field.
  • Experience in teaching at A level and GCSE is preferred.
  • Strong IT and learning technology skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to professional development and staying updated with current educational practices.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
