We are seeking a Project Manager with a background in special educational needs (SEN) and/or care and project management experience. This unique role involves helping to set up and manage a new music therapy centre, designed to offer various music sessions, including karaoke, drums, and guitars. The centre aims to cater to individuals with learning disabilities, and the Project Manager will play a crucial role in its establishment and operation.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define the vision and structure of the music therapy centre.
  • Develop a business plan, modelled on successful community projects like the Croydon Soda Club.
  • Source and recruit a qualified music therapist and other necessary staff.
  • Advise on the management and operation of the business, including marketing strategies like leaflet distribution to attract users.
  • Explore opportunities for grants and funding from charities and other organisations.
  • Initially, host music therapy sessions once a week for 2 hours, with the potential for expansion.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience working with individuals with learning disabilities and understanding of the community.
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to structure and guide a start-up business to success.
  • Strong organisational and leadership abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Resourcefulness in sourcing funding and managing budgets.
  • A passion for music therapy and its benefits is desirable.
