Electrical Installations Technician
Location: South East London
Salary: £22,487 - £28,300
Hours: 37 Hours per week
Main Purpose of the Job:
We are seeking a dedicated Electrical Installations Technician to support teaching activities by maintaining and preparing practical/technical resources. The role involves providing technical assistance to students, lecturers, and assessors, ensuring a safe and well-maintained working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain materials, equipment, and facilities for classes and practical activities.
- Assist in supporting student projects and assessment tasks.
- Provide support during teaching sessions as requested by lecturers.
- Maintain hygiene and Health & Safety standards in practical teaching environments.
- Cost and order materials, ensuring best value.
- Maintain records such as risk assessments and COSHH sheets.
- Supervise and instruct students in practical aspects of the course.
- Attend open evenings and external events to promote the College.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Essential: Minimum Level 3 qualification in Electrical or related discipline, on-site experience in Electrical Installations.
- Desirable: Experience in an educational environment, knowledge of a wide variety of Construction topics, and experience in setting up practical teaching tasks.
Skills and Competencies:
- Organized and methodical approach.
- Good communication skills.
- Flexible and cooperative team member.
- Proven IT skills (Microsoft Office).
- Ability to work safely and maintain College and departmental risk assessments.
Other Qualities:
- Initiative and ability to work alone or with the teaching team.
- Willingness to undertake training.
- Experience in working with students and developing good rapport.
- First Aider qualification is desirable.
