Process Safety Engineer

looking to progress within a leading Commercial Explosive Manufacturer in the UK. This is an onsite role based out of Alfreton, Derbyshire.

This is a position where we are open to considering recent graduates in this sector, however will be reflective in the salary.

The Process Safety Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Ensure compliance of EPC-UK sites with COMAH, DSEAR regulations
  • Develop a culture of Process Safety excellence
  • Accountable to the Head of SHEAQ Northern Europe for all matters relating to Process Safety across all relevant areas of the Business
  • Effective management of major accident hazard identification and risk assessment processes using a Hazard 0-7 study approach as well, QRA, SIL verification, Safety Critical Task Analysis and Occupied Building Risk assessments.
  • Participating in incident investigations and root cause analysis as well as conduct on-site inspections and audits of Process Safety procedures and practices.
  • Ensure that all Process Safety Accidents and Serious Near Misses are subjected to a full and thorough investigation

The Process Safety Engineer will need to have:

  • Educated to degree level in either Chemical or Process Engineering or Chemistry.
  • A thorough understanding of the best available techniques for carrying out comprehensive risk assessments as well as the identification of major accident hazards
  • Ideally previous experience of working within an Upper Tier COMAH facility, hence an appreciation of COMAH
