Resident Project Engineer - eMachine and Inverters

Job Purpose:

To be responsible for supporting, developing and monitoring the eMotor and Inverter supplier on-site, particularly with industrialization of the product.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Improving robustness of Engineering Design sign-off on-site at the supplier, including but not limited to:

  • Design reviews

  • Design reports

  • DFMEA

  • PFMEA

  • Design rules and standards

  • Resolving engineering Concerns (using eCMS) at supplier in a timely fashion.

  • Design releases and Engineering Change Management

  • Drive improvements in Project Management governance, including but not limited to:

  • Project planning supporting deliverables against ALM program plan

  • Resource planning

  • Deliverable monitoring. Ensure supplier meets project delivery milestones on time and to quality

  • Provide technical oversight of Production Assembly Line Processes for both eMotor and Inverter

  • Assist AML SQA team to ensure robust delivery of the product through line set up, Off-process trials, Run-at-rate and full PSW compliance

  • Capture and author design standards and best practices unique to AML designs and applications

  • Support delivery of ePowertrain systems and commodities strategy

  • Present status at Gateways and support ePowertrain design reviews, AML Package Meetings & ePowertrain meetings.

  • Work cross-functionally with other Engineering departments to define and balance characteristics to achieve system and vehicle requirements

  • Support Intellectual Property (IP) team to protect AML generated IP

  • Acquire and evaluate competitor benchmark information to influence concept creation in early project phases.

Qualification & Experience:

  • EMotor and Inverter development for high performance automotive applications including DFMEA, PFMEA, DVP and Product Specs
  • Excellent experience of managing suppliers
  • Excellent Mechanical design skills and GD&T abilities in both generation, critique and tolerance stack analysis
  • Driving product developments issues to resolution.
  • Good CAD user (NX preferred)
  • Good knowledge of DfM, DfA, DfC
  • Hands on experience of working with automotive High Voltage ePowertrain systems
  • Experience of delivering ePowertrain commodities from early R&D to series production through an automotive product creation system including knowledge of PPAP
  • Mechanical systems development and integration for high performance hybrid and/or electric vehicles to ISO 26262
  • Knowledge of relevant component legislation and certification requirements for automotive ePowertrain systems
  • Understanding of hybrid and electric powertrain system functionalities and attributes at vehicle, system and component levels
  • Use of test equipment to support mechanical system testing
  • Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic and/or related field
  • High Voltage Live Working Qualification
