Job Title: Fabricator/Welder

About the Role:

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Fabricator/Welder for our client's site in Great Yarmouth. This role requires an individual with a comprehensive understanding of welding processes and materials to produce structural products such as skids, tanks, pipework, and pressure vessel fabrications. The ideal candidate will be adept at interpreting weld procedures and engineering drawings, and capable of planning task sequences efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and weld component parts to a high-quality standard.
  • Perform fit-up and welding using SMAW and GMAW processes.
  • Conduct arc and oxy-acetylene welding, cutting, and brazing on various ferrous and nonferrous metals according to established methods.
  • Operate all welding equipment, machinery, and tooling in the Fabrication Shop proficiently.
  • Adhere to weekly production schedules, identifying any potential issues that could impact daily targets.
  • Interpret weld procedures and engineering drawings to determine the most efficient, cost-effective solutions without compromising quality or safety.
  • Maintain welder traceability when applicable.
  • Follow recognised procedures for issuing and returning welding consumables.
  • Accurately complete time sheets/Kronos electronic timekeeping and return them to the Supervisor daily and upon job completion.
  • Assist in resolving assembly and production issues.
  • Minimize waste by using and disposing of raw materials and consumable items efficiently.

Qualifications:

  • Time-served apprenticeship or HND in a relevant subject is desirable.

Experience:

  • Essential: Proven experience in a welding and manufacturing environment, including the preparation of components.
  • Desirable: Experience with offshore skid manufacturing processes.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Essential: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Essential: Proficiency in fabrication techniques.
  • Essential: Skilled in MiG, Tig, and oxy-acetylene welding and cutting.
