Description

The role of the Legal Counsel - Construction will have the following responsibilities:

  • To provide quality legal advice and support that is proportionate, timely, cost effective and practical and which advances the overriding aim of supporting the business objectives;
  • To protect the business from unacceptable financial and reputational harm and to optimise successful project delivery through effective management of legal risk;
  • To enable the business to make appropriate risk-based decisions;
  • To advise upon and lead the legal considerations on UK construction related projects.
  • To raise awareness of and champion the importance of good legal practice with key stakeholders and increase compliance with the businesses legal policies;
  • To provide strategic and practical legal advice for construction contract negotiations, construction and procurement planning and developing the construction contract templates used by the business; and
  • Work with the UK project team to deliver UK construction projects and assist with commercial and practical advice at the outset of projects to mitigate risk throughout their duration.

Profile

Suitable applicants for the role will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • A qualified solicitor with experience in construction law
  • Experience in non-contentious Construction Law is highly desirable but contentious experience is also beneficial.
