Building Surveyor

Building Surveyor with previous experience of managing cyclical and / or major works programmes to residential homes in a Social Housing environment, good knowledge of building regulations and the ability to research and implement sustainability and energy saving measures is required to join a well-established housing association.

SALARY: £45,000 - £49,000 per annum+ Generous Benefits (see below)

LOCATION: Hybrid working - partly from home, partly from the office in Ealing (W5) and across other parts of London. You may also be required to visit patches in Staines, Winchester and Oxford

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Please note: You must hold a full UK Driving Licence and have access to a vehicle for work use

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Building Surveyorwith previous experience of managing cyclical and / or major works programmes to residential homes in a Social Housing environment, good knowledge of building regulations and the ability to research and implement sustainability and energy saving measures.

Working as the Building Surveyor you will develop and deliver planned maintenance projects to time, budget, resident satisfaction and quality whilst meeting all statutory and business compliance requirements.

As the Building Surveyor you will have a well-developed level of technical building knowledge with the ability to assess risk and plan and manage projects.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Building Surveyorwill include:

  • Project Management; effectively plan, procure and manage projects to agreed service levels, ensuring works carried out meet the Group's quality requirements and stakeholder expectations
  • Stock Condition Surveys; undertake condition surveys to capture defects, produce reports and action plans considering latest sustainability standards and performance specifications
  • Optimize Asset Performance; assist in maintaining the groups' asset database by regularly reviewing and updating existing data and carrying out value for money exercises to achieve business objectives
  • Communication; effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders, attend resident meetings and manage complaints
  • Risk; ability to assess, control, manage and mitigate risk
  • Key Performance Indicators; effectively monitor KPI's and implement action plans
  • Team Work; play an active role in team-working. Support and coach team members to develop capability and strengthen team
  • Policy and Procedures; ensure policies and existing procedures are followed and suggest areas for improvement to deliver Asset Management objectives including sustainability and 'Fit for the Future' key strategic aims

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Maths and English (Grades A*- C)
  • ONC/HNC in building surveying or similar discipline
  • Well-developed level of technical building knowledge
  • Good knowledge and understanding of building regulations and statutory requirements
  • Previous experience of managing cyclical and/or major works programmes to residents' homes in a Social Housing Partnering Environment
  • Ability to research and implement sustainability & energy saving measures in Cyclical & Major Works projects
  • You must hold a full UK Driving license and have access to a vehicle
