IT Support Apprentice

Role Purpose:

As an IT Support Apprentice, you will report to the IT & Information Security Manager and receive support from the IT Assistant. Your primary role will be to support the business by monitoring and effectively resolving internal stakeholder issues, ensuring minimal delays to business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in updating and maintaining hardware and software.
  • Investigate and propose changes to the IT infrastructure.
  • Perform routine day-to-day hardware and software maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and correct hardware/software computer and network problems.
  • Take ownership of user problems and proactively address issues.
  • Maintain a log of software or hardware problems and document resolutions.
  • Support the company's Cyber Security, business continuity, and IT policies and processes.
  • Interact with different departments, providing general IT support.
  • Develop a basic understanding of networking and cyber security policies.

Candidate Qualities:

  • A genuine interest in IT and a career in IT
  • Must be comfortable speaking to people and asking questions
  • Confident in addressing issues and finding solutions
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and eager to learn
  • Must be comfortable working within a team and communicating across departments

Entry Requirements:

  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
