Lead Data Scientist
7 Month initial contract

Hybrid remote - 3 days in office
Day Rate: £6000pd - £650pd DOE (Inside IR35/Umbrella)

On offer is a fantastic opportunity for a Lead Data Scientist to work within the Public Sector for our Central Government client.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL BE:
- Supporting the delivery of the 10-year intent and strategy for your team in the adoption of AI across the Public Sector
- Document best practice through the intricate realms of Natural Language Processing and Understanding (NLP/NLU), machine learning, and experimental design.
- Identify efficient and effective ways to use advanced analytics, data science and automation to tackle business and organisational challenges.
- Steer technical teams in data-driven projects in tandem with delivery and product managers, delineating project scopes and using your time efficiently. Ensure that projects not only provide technical solutions but also deliver business value.
- Act as a digital ambassador across government, sponsoring AI/ML adoption, best practices, and collaboration and help upskill others in wider Government in AI adoption
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Experience in data science, and machine learning
- Understanding of AI algorithms and their use cases
- Understanding of the data processing pipeline
- Knowledge of retrieval augmented generation, and fine-tuning
- Understanding of data pipelines and their unique versioning requirements.
- Deep knowledge of evaluation metrics and test metrics
- Deep knowledge of LLMs, GenAI, and Foundation Models in general
- Understanding of the short and medium term developments in AI/ML.
- Understanding of LLM vulnerabilities, safeguards, guardrails, and security.
- Experience with profiling and performance optimisation of AI/ML systems.
