Based in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne, on the prestigious Grey Street, one of the city's longest established law firms, has a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and experienced litigator!

The firm was established in 1919 and has an excellent reputation generationally in many genres of law, including civil and commercial litigation! The offices on Grey Street are contemporary, well designed and boutique in appearance. All software is cloud-based so the firm provides an agile way of working wherever you may be based, and there is hybrid working model too. There are five offices between Leeds, Sunderland, Newcastle and Gateshead in the group, which provides multiple locations to work from.

This opportunity brings with it first class support by way of a full-time legal secretary to provide all of your administrative needs and client support, and an impressive trainee solicitor to assist you.

In addition to the immediate support in the litigation team, the firm is collegiate culturally, and collaborative in nature and so there is a plethora of peer to peer support.

Other functions such as Marketing, Finance and the Senior Exec team will also work closely with you.

The firm is very much focussed on people, wellbeing and personal development. In the recent Lexcel assessment the firm was applauded for its approach in respect of providing coaching via an external executive coach, the leadership and management development programme and its support for staff who need to access mental health services privately. The ideal candidate should have at least 4 years PQE in dispute resolution, both civil and commercial disputes, as well as experience with property disputes. A keen advocate is preferred, so that some hearings can be conducted without the need to default to Counsel. Opportunities to develop advocacy skills will be provided. The role also includes the following requirements;

  • To effectively manage a current and mixed caseload of litigation files.
  • To supervise and develop the trainee solicitor.
  • To provide a first class client experience.
  • To work closely with Group Marketing Manager to support the Business Development and Marketing Strategy.
  • To raise your profile and make connections to build powerful networks to feed the firm as well as your own department.
  • Target quality clients and quality work.
  • Work collaboratively with others (both internally and externally) to create opportunities.
  • Support and grow the dispute resolution offering.

There is access to a Consultant Solicitor for your own personal internal guidance or counsel on a one to one basis if case reviews are required.
