Maintenance Operative

Our client is a private real estate investment company founded in 1985. Their wide-ranging portfolio includes affordable housing, student accommodation, PRS, hotels, youth hostels, offices, and warehousing across the UK, Netherlands and France. They are now looking to recruit a Maintenance Operative to join their growing team. This full-time role is based in Crawley, RH10. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.

The Maintenance Operative will support the Building Manager by providing timely repairs and maintenance in accordance with Health and Safety regulations.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Provide an approachable, friendly and professional level of customer service.
  • Provide a responsive general repairs and maintenance service.
  • Carrying out planned work with the relevant contractors on site.
  • Undertaking plumbing repairs and minor electrical tasks.
  • Re-decorate areas within the building, where required.
  • Assist with installation and movement of furniture and bedding supplies.
  • Carry out general duties including fire alarm test, emergency lighting testing and any other statutory tests as may be required or directed by the Building Manager.
  • To undertake administrative tasks as reasonably requested by the Building Manager.
  • To be available for severe emergencies outside working hours.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

You are a skilled and diligent individual capable of working across a range of trades. You will have an organised, calm, and methodical approach to your work, with excellent time management skills alongside your repairs and maintenance skill set. You will understand the extent of your skill set and be able to clearly express when you are able or unable to complete a task. You are happy to do what is required to get any job done on time and to the standard required. You will have a can-do mentality and a willingness to support others to ensure that work is done to the standard required.

KEY SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES (essential)

  • Competent and skilled tradesperson across a range of disciplines.
  • Wide understanding and appreciation of H&S regulations and requirements for repairs and maintenance operatives.
  • Basic electrical skills.
  • Basic plumbing skills (to include bathroom and kitchen units).
  • Painting decorating skills.
  • Basic cabinetry and carpentry skills.
  • Appliance installation.
  • Experience with power tools.
