Subject Leader for A Level Photography

Salary: £34,414 - £44,000 (£27,531 - £35,200) Benefits: Up to £12,584 (£10,067) Employer Pension contributions and 52 Days Annual Leave (pro rata) (incl. Bank Holidays & Christmas Closure) Location: Newcastle College site Hours: Part-time 29.6 hours per week

The group is currently home to a population of over 6,000 full-time students and around 500 students on higher education programmes. We have over 4,000 part-time or adult learners and 2,000 apprentices where we work with over 800 individual employers. Our Sixth Form provision has a reputation for high academic achievement and excellence.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, suitably qualified individual who will play a crucial role in realising the department's strategic objectives. You will be an inspiring lecturer with a background in photography and a strong portfolio of personal work.

You will need to demonstrate an understanding and sensitivity towards a variety of learner needs and support the delivery team with a range of innovative teaching approaches to enable learners to reach their full potential.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To deliver lively and interactive teaching, learning and assessment to an outstanding standard on a range of programmes as appropriate.
  • To secure outstanding success for all learners and ensure targets for recruitment, retention, achievement and success, attendance and progression are met.
  • To support the development of the A level programme and contribute constructively to teaching on other related programmes.
  • Engage in core duties including preparation, marking, monitoring student progress, preparing reports, setting and marking of examination papers, developing and preparing flexible learning materials.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Has a relevant qualification to degree level
  • Has or is willing to study for a relevant teaching qualification (DTLLS, PGCE or equivalent).
  • Has expertise in traditional and digital photography
  • Is well organised and able to manage the peaks and troughs of a varied workload.
