Events Manager

Lady Margaret Hall (LMH) is seeking an Events Manager (one-year fixed term contract) to join the College's enthusiastic and hard-working team Conference team to support the growth of our business. LMH is a constituent College of the University of Oxford and is located in peaceful, spacious gardens beside the University Parks. The lovely setting makes LMH an excellent venue for conferences and events. The LMH Conference team manage a wide range of events from day meetings and residential conferences to banquets, weddings and B&B as well as summer schools and short academic programmes.

The Events Manager will have a key role in helping to win new Conference business, as well as managing events and B&B bookings and providing support to other team members. The role is varied and interesting, requiring good people skills, communication skills and admin skills. The Events Manager will work with a wide variety of customers and events, and liaise with staff across the whole College. They will join a very supportive and welcoming team, who are focused on delivering great customer service.

This role requires a motivated self-starter with a positive, outgoing attitude and a personal commitment to excellence. The successful candidate will be a team player, confidently taking responsibility for their own events whilst collaborating with the wider team and adopting a hands-on approach when needed. With a strong work ethic, they will be well-organised, conscientious, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling them to build rapport with clients and colleagues. They will also demonstrate a proven ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, prioritise their workload, and consistently meet deadlines.

Comfortable working in a dynamic environment, the successful candidate will adeptly handle changing priorities and unexpected challenges with a positive, solutions-oriented mindset. Candidates should possess a degree-level education and have previous customer service experience, with a demonstrable track record of success in delivering outstanding customer service within a similar role. The post-holder must be able to attend some events during evenings and weekends, for which time off in lieu will be granted. While the role primarily requires working from LMH, there is the possibility of working from home for some of the time, as agreed upon with the line manager.
