Job Description:
At Tradewind we are seeking a compassionate and skilled EAL Teaching Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children who are learning English as an additional language and will be committed to helping these students thrive academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to students with English as an Additional Language (EAL) to help them access the curriculum.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of lessons that meet the needs of EAL students.
- Work one-on-one and in small groups with students to develop their English language skills, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
- Support classroom teachers in creating an inclusive environment that supports language development.
- Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
- Assist in the preparation of learning materials and resources.
- Promote a positive and inclusive school culture that values diversity.
- Support students in building confidence and independence in their language skills.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role, preferably with EAL students.
- Strong understanding of the challenges faced by EAL students and effective strategies to support their learning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students succeed.
- Relevant qualifications or training in education or EAL support (e.g., CACHE Level 3, TEFL/TESOL certification) is desirable.
