The Role

As part of the Business Analytics Team, which serves as the centre of excellence for analytics and process evolution, the Senior Data Analyst will play a key role in a variety of business intelligence and analytical projects. This role is crucial in extracting value from our data and presenting insights in a meaningful way to the business. It is a highly visible position, frequently requiring presentations to the executive team.

The Responsibilities

  1. Technical Leadership in SQL:
  • Serve as the technical lead for the department in writing complex SQL queries from a transactional database.
  • Ensure high technical competency and meticulous attention to detail in SQL scripting.
  • Collaborate with data engineers to build the data warehouse and support ongoing analytical projects.
  • Transform SQL queries into actionable insights and outputs that drive business decisions.
  1. Power BI Reporting and Visualisation:
  • Act as the technical expert in Power BI, leveraging advanced functionalities such as row-level security, calculation groups, and complex DAX measures.
  • Lead the creation of insightful and interactive Power BI reports and dashboards that present complex data clearly and actionably for stakeholders at all levels.
  • Develop the Power BI reporting environment, ensuring best practices and optimal performance.
  1. Advanced Analytics Solutions:
  • Utilise statistical and analytical techniques to identify opportunities that can boost conversion and productivity within the organization.
  • Drive the development of advanced analytics solutions to derive actionable insights from data using statistical methods and machine learning models.
  • Apply knowledge of Python and machine learning modelling, leveraging environments such as ML Studio for machine learning and predictive modelling projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate advanced analytics into business processes and applications.
  • Bridge the gap between business and technology, using actionable insights to support business decisions and provide guidance on growth opportunities.
  1. Performance Monitoring and Optimisation:
  • Establish metrics to evaluate the performance and impact of analytics solutions, making data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Proactively identify opportunities and insights to generate revenue or reduce costs across a range of business units, including sales, finance, and HR.

The Requirements

  • Proven experience (at least 5 years) in data analytics and business intelligence.
  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries.
  • Proficiency in designing and developing Power BI reports and dashboards, with advanced technical knowledge in row-level security, calculation groups, and complex DAX measures.
  • Previous experience working with a cloud-based data platform such as Microsoft Azure/Synapse.
  • Expertise in data analysis and deriving insights from data, with the initiative to deep dive into data and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Comfortable presenting complex ideas to executive-level stakeholders.
