Building Surveyor – The Role:

This role involves overseeing the design, planning, and management of capital projects on campus. You will be responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. The role includes conducting site surveys, preparing project specifications, managing contractors, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. You will also work closely with various stakeholders to ensure that projects meet the needs of the institution and enhance the campus environment.

Building Surveyor – Main Activities/Responsibilities:

  • Design and manage capital projects, including renovations, refurbishments, and new installations
  • Conduct site surveys and feasibility studies to assess project requirements
  • Prepare detailed project specifications, budgets, and schedules
  • Manage contractors and suppliers to ensure quality and adherence to project timelines
  • Ensure compliance with building regulations, health and safety standards, and institutional guidelines
  • Collaborate with facilities management, academic staff, and other stakeholders to ensure project success
  • Provide regular updates and reports on project progress to senior management

Building Surveyor – You:

  • Degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Proven experience in managing construction projects, preferably within an educational or similar environment
  • Strong knowledge of building regulations, health and safety standards, and project management principles
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage contractors and collaborate with diverse teams
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in relevant software, including CAD and project management tools
