Laboratory Operations Technician

We have an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Operations Technician to join a leading Microbiology company based in the Cambridgeshire area. As the Laboratory Operations Technician you will be working as a key member of the laboratory operations team, helping to ensure the smooth running of the laboratory and facilities.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your duties as the Laboratory Operations Technician will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. As the Laboratory Operations Technician you will support the scientific teams as required for the supply of microbiological media and reagents, together with ensuring clean glass wear supply and lab waste disposal.

2. You will ensure the laboratories are appropriately supplied, including stock ordering, receipt and distribution.

3. As Laboratory Operations Technician you will assist with the building, laboratory and facilities maintenance by meeting and hosting on-site engineers whilst complying with health and safety regulations

4. You will support the supply of compressed gas and liquid N2 to the laboratories, including changing gas cylinders and re-filling cryo storage vessels.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Laboratory Operations Technician we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant degree in a life science subject or equivalent (e.g. biological sciences)

2. Proven industry experience working in operational support in a biological sciences laboratory, including preparation of sterile laboratory supplies, microbiological media, and stock management.

3. A working knowledge and practical experience with laboratory health and safety.
