Retail Computer Solutions Ltd was established in 1989, providing inhouse software solutions and services to retailer, wholesale and Warehousing sectors across the UK and beyond.
Our products span Point of Sale & Store systems to Head Office and warehousing solutions. Our customer base is as varied and diverse as our products ranging from independent stores to department stores, large chains and multinationals.

Overall purpose of the role:
Due to internal progression/growth, we have a vacancy within our Software Development team. This will involve working as part of a team across multiple projects including new software development, enhancements and 3rd line support for existing products utilising a range of technologies.

The Software Development Team is the heart of RCS and is responsible for creating and improving software solutions for the betterment of our customer base.

Duties and responsibilities: [The successful candidate will]

  • Utilise the technologies and tools listed below across the full development lifecycle to meet the requirements of various projects
  • Technology Development Software & Infrastructure - Visual studio, Microsoft DevOps, GIT, SQL server management studio, Azure Cloud services, Microsoft windows operating systems server and desktop
  • Use Development Code - C#, Java script, HTML, T-SQL, MySQL, MCV
  • Use Databases - MS SQL & MYSQL
  • Work independently or collaboratively with other members of the Development team as well as other internal or external stakeholders
  • Work alongside Customer Care Team to identify and resolve issues in a 3rd line support capacity

What we are looking for:
Desired experience, skills and qualities:

  • Punctual and hardworking
  • Able to clearly communicate and collaborate with other stakeholders and teams
  • Experience of working in a system or technology-based role is beneficial
  • Functional working knowledge of: C#, SQL & DevOps is beneficial
  • Highly skilled in interpersonal and verbal/written communications, presentations, math, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely to technical and nontechnical users

Having a full driving license preferred, but is not essential.

Entry requirements:

  • The learner must have completed a Level 3 Software Development Apprenticeship with QA or have an equivalent qualification with another training provider
  • OR an A-level in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) subject and a successful completion of our aptitude test
  • OR a BTEC Diploma in IT and a successful completion of our aptitude test
  • OR 2 years' experience in a relevant role and successful completion of our aptitude test

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Salary:
£18,000 per annum.

Working week:
Monday to Friday,
8:45am - 5pm,
40hrs a week.
