Project Manager (Social Care / Youth Services)

Posted by Positive Employment.

Positive Employment is currently recruiting for a Project Manager for our client a local government organisation based in Bristol.

The successful candidate will project manager a project that aims to devise and implement a new way of working that enables all young people and families to feel supported, informed and empowered to achieve personal goals as they transition into adulthood. The project aims to enable smoother and well-planned transitions.

This is initially a 6 month contract which may be extended for the right applicant. This role is fully remote, with the potential for occasional on-site attendance for induction and then as the work requires, by mutual agreement.

Project Aims:

  • Delivering agreed, improved and documented pathway and process for young people to transition through to adult services. This will improve timeliness of transition preparation for young people, and should support and complement other social work and educational activity merging goals and embedding the four pillars of the Preparing for Adulthood (PFA) principles into young person's active plans.
  • Clarifying other pathways and services that can support young people through to adulthood and ensure that this information is widely available to young people, families and professionals through improvements to information published regarding transitions on the organisation's website.
  • Improving information for shared learning and knowledge across adults and children's services to ensure all practitioners are supporting the person to work towards the PFA outcomes and the subsequent alignment with the Care Act eligibility criteria.
  • Specify and propose reporting to maximise use of business intelligence, remove manual tracking activities and duplication of information recording. This will support the continuation of clarity on the transitions cohort to all services involved in supporting young people.
  • Developing a Transitions Panel. Having the right meeting to ensure there is improved co-ordination across services, with clarified criteria, purpose and outcomes will enable the right professionals to come together, review the future cohort, inform housing and commissioners of future service demands and support the services to ensure young people are on the best pathways for them in the coming years.
  • Tracking change through the improved process and reporting to identify savings and support the reduction of cost for transitions cases. Improved case management awareness at an earlier age will enable service and housing planning, and is expected to bring a reduction in cost through the right service at the right time for the young person.

Personal Requirements:

  • Strong project management experience and relevant subject-matter knowledge gained through previous project management assignments.
  • Evidence of effective risk and issue management within a programme/project context.
  • PRINCE 2 qualified or another professional project management qualification with detailed knowledge of the practical application of PRINCE2/MSP methodologies (or similar) principles.
  • Previous experience as a PM in a local government organisation or similar (desirable).
