Our client is a Global 3PL and we are delighted to assist them in their search for an experienced Transport professional as they look to recruit a Head of Transport at their site in Corby.

Reporting into the Transport Director you will be responsible for the overseeing operational compliance and excellence, driving forwards with standards and process improvement.

Key Accountabilities as Head of Transport:

  • Manage the daily operations of the transport department and all direct reports
  • Lead a team of Transport Managers & Shift Managers, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
  • Ensure operational compliance with drivers' hours and Working Time Directive (WTD) regulations.
  • Deal with the employee relations issues, namely, disciplinary, grievance and absence procedures when necessary, maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
  • Utilise the TMS to track and analyse operational data.
  • Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs), taking proactive measures to achieve targets and improve performance.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to optimise fleet utilisation and meet customer demands.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and maximise profitability.
  • Demonstrate strong organisational and time management skills, effectively prioritising tasks and managing resources.

The Ideal Person for the Head of Transport role:

  • CPC holder and O license required.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing Transport Operations, either own account or 3PL
  • Strong knowledge of drivers' hours and WTD regulations.
  • Excellent commercial acumen.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Experience of driving through change through continuous improvement and project management.
