Functional Integration Engineer

We are looking for an engineer to join our SPEAR 3 team and develop their career within the Integration and Systems Validation department. You will enjoy working in a supportive environment and delivering a challenging programme while being part of a collaborative and driven team.

Working closely with Requirements and Design teams, you will focus on the detail to both support the design process and deliver the evidence necessary to certify our equipment onto trials / customer aircraft and into full service.

You will have the opportunity to grow your skills and contribute to developing the SPEAR 3 functional proving capability and with it, the wider SPEAR 3 trials team understanding of the Weapon Sub-Systems

Job Title: Functional Integration Engineer

Salary: Up to £58,000 depending on experience

Location: Stevenage (We may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)

Typically for this role you will work mainly on site, with some ad-hoc opportunities to work from home.

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

This role on either missile or launcher Functional Integration (Compat) fits into an established SPEAR 3 team that is responsible for a range of ground, flight and integration trials of the SPEAR 3 Weapon System. Individuals will work closely with a wide range of other stakeholders using their technical skills and knowledge to drive forward this key UK defence programme.

What we're looking for from you:

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent experience) in electrical/electronics engineering and experience of defining / implementing functional and electrical test strategies. (1553, Mil Std 704 etc)
  • Familiarity using general commercial Lab test equipment and using data analysis tools/methods to verify requirements and validate electrical/electronic equipment.
  • Familiarity with Systems Design process, requirements decomposition etc. DOORS, Rhapsody and similar.
  • Knowledge of failure/defect reporting and investigation processes.
  • Passionate and dedicated individual.
  • The creativity and practicality to work with complex problems and derive logical solutions to innovate test capability and test/analysis efficiency
  • Adaptability and resilience to work in a varied and often fast-paced role.
