Infrastructure Engineer (Cloud Automation)

Package: Up to £54,000 (including digital allowance) + circa 28% pension

Location: Cardiff, Wales (Hybrid & Remote options)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Infrastructure Engineer (Cloud Automation) within our Digital and Technology team. We are seeking an individual with exceptional leadership and technical skills, who is driven to implement DevOps culture and principles across the business. This role offers the chance to deliver Platform Infrastructure and systems to the highest standards.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Deliver infrastructure and tooling to support a continuous delivery approach.
  • Focus on user and service to ensure value through improvement and automation of platform services.
  • Work with a team of infrastructure specialists and engineers to build, administer, support, and maintain solutions.
  • Translate architectural designs into operations with technical architects.
  • Design and develop infrastructure as code, source code repositories, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipelines.
  • Coordinate integration between technologies to meet organisational milestones using Cloud-based tooling.
  • Lead and support colleagues in non-functional requirements, ensuring availability, security, capacity, and performance.
  • Transform technical requirements into an effective DevOps toolchain to enable product delivery.
  • Maintain and adhere to best practice guides.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Expertise in AWS Cloud technology, CI/CD tooling (e.g., Concourse, Jenkins), GitHub, Terraform, and Unix/Linux.
  • Practitioner level in Ansible, Docker, and Python.
  • Working knowledge of Packer, Microservice, and Serverless Architecture.
  • Awareness of Programming Languages (Java and NodeJS) is desirable.
  • Skills in coding, scripting, IT infrastructure, information security, systems design, integration, and problem resolution.
