Job Description

Are you a detail-oriented professional with a passion for quality and compliance in construction? Join us as a Technical Inspector and play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of maintenance and capital projects for LBHF housing stock, both residential and non-residential. Collaborate with a dedicated team of project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Resident Consultation: Engage with residents to understand their needs and ensure that maintenance projects are carried out with minimal disruption.
  • Project Assistance: Support the delivery of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and capital works programs, adhering to tight deadlines and high standards.
  • Site Inspections: Conduct regular site visits to verify compliance with specifications, drawings, and health and safety regulations.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that all work and materials meet the required standards and that high-quality results are achieved.
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed reports on project progress, site activities, and any issues encountered.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant legislation, including health and safety laws and Council policies.
  • Budget Management: Assist in managing project budgets, processing cost variations, and ensuring financial compliance.
  • Customer Service: Address and resolve complaints from residents and provide excellent customer service.
  • Training and Development: Stay updated on industry developments and participate in continuous professional development.

About You

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Extensive understanding of the construction industry, including materials, trades, methods, and legal requirements.
  • Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Technical competence and the ability to ensure that work and materials meet required standards.
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation, including CDM regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Strong written communication skills for report writing.
  • Organizational and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in IT systems, including MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with contractors and stakeholders.
  • Experience in handling customer complaints and resolving technical issues.
  • Comfort with working at heights and wearing PPE on construction sites.
  • Professionalism and the ability to act diplomatically and independently.

Qualifications:

  • Essential:

  • A craft or technical qualification such as City & Guilds, NVQ/SVQ Level 2 or 3, or BTEC/SQA National Award.

  • Desirable:

  • A foundation or honors degree.

  • Membership in the Institute of Clerk of Works.

  • Qualifications in mechanical, electrical, or building services.

Other Requirements:

  • Full clean driving license if preffered
