What you'll do:
As an Underwriter specialising in Facultative Reinsurance at Aspen Insurance, you will play a crucial role in contributing to strategy development and planning. Your ability to support the implementation of underwriting strategies will be key in achieving overall business targets. You will be expected to adhere strictly to underwriting standards while performing your duties within legal and regulatory frameworks. A significant part of your role will involve establishing strong relationships with various stakeholders including customers, brokers, business partners and colleagues. Your expertise in underwriting insurance risks according to the business plan will be vital for meeting business objectives. Additionally, you will participate in reviewing and analysing the portfolio to track progress towards business goals.
- Contribute to strategy and planning to ensure relevancy, compliance and optimal delivery
- Support the implementation of underwriting strategy to enable delivery of overall business targets
- Ensure adherence to underwriting standards, instructions and good practice to minimise risk and maximise efficiency
- Perform underwriting activities in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements
- Establish, strengthen and develop relationships with stakeholders including customers, brokers, business partners and colleagues
- Underwrite insurance risks in accordance with the business plan and delegated underwriting authority
- Participate in the review and analysis of the portfolio to identify progress toward business objectives
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this Underwriter role brings broad experience from working within an international property facultative underwriting environment. Your experience resolving complex underwriting queries will be highly valued. You should hold specific professional qualifications at degree level or equivalent, and be ACII (or equivalent) qualified or making progress towards completion of insurance qualifications. Your strong interpersonal and communication skills will enable you to build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders. Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, and other departmental software packages is essential. Your ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment will contribute to your success in this role.
- Broad experience of working in an underwriting environment within a specialised/complex underwriting area
- Experience of resolving complex underwriting queries
- Specific professional qualifications at a level of degree or equivalent
- ACII (or equivalent) qualified or progress towards completion of insurance qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office applications e.g. Excel and other departmental software packages
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
