UX Engineer

Elevation IT are working with a leading ecommerce business in Leeds, West Yorkshire in recruiting a talented UX Engineer (front end).

Hybrid working, 1-2 days in the office

Salary up to £50,000 - £60,000 + benefits

As a UX Engineer at you will bridge the gap between development and design, focusing on crafting high-quality front-end code while collaborating closely with the wider team. Your expertise in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript will enable you to bring your designs to life, creating interactive and responsive web experiences.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop visually appealing and responsive user interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React that align with brand style guides.
  • Work closely with internal agency to create wireframes, prototypes, and turn them into fully functional web applications.
  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and apply insights to improve the product's user experience, ensuring smooth and pleasant interactions across all devices.
  • Define interaction models, user task flows, and UI specifications. Develop, document, and maintain design wireframes, mock-ups, and specifications as needed.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define, design, and ship new features.
  • Write well-documented, scalable, and optimised code for performance. Ensure that every element of the UI is pixel-perfect.
  • Advocate for and implement improvements to processes, tools, and standards to enhance the development lifecycle.
  • Communicate design concepts, end-to-end experiences, interaction models, and screen designs to stakeholders. Run workshops and gather client requirements to inform design decisions.
  • Ensure all applications meet accessibility standards and best practices.

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, and modern UI frameworks such as Bootstrap or Foundations.
  • Proficiency in UX design tools like Figma. Ability to wireframe components, pages, and applications, and create user personas, user journeys, and site maps.
  • Critical thinker with a creative mindset, capable of identifying design problems and devising elegant solutions.
  • Experience with A/B testing, user feedback analysis, and implementing improvements based on data-driven insights.
  • Understanding of accessibility and usability concerns and how to address them in web applications.
