Chemical Process Engineer

Location: Leicester

£60,000 - £75,000 plus car allowance, mileage allowance, Royal London pension, life assurance, healthcare, mobile phone, laptop and 28 days holiday EXCLUDING statutory days

We are an innovation and technology company covering wastewater treatment, hygiene and renewables. We have an exciting role for a Senior Chemical Engineer interested in helping to push boundaries in the energy transition. With a growing shift towards renewable energy and energy from waste, we have designed an innovative process to capture and remove carbon dioxide (CO2) from the Biogas produced from Anaerobic digestion plants. Currently at pilot scale, we are looking for an engineer with the ability to take us to the next step. This will include the commissioning and optimisation of our current pilot process and the upscaling design of future units as we move into manufacture.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Using and developing process simulation software to work out the most efficient productionmethods
  • Building prototypes
  • Managing the development and layout of new process plants
  • Designing and testing new processes
  • Working with other professionals to ensure processes and premises are safe and do not have a detrimental effect on the environment
  • Collecting the data needed to make improvements and modifications to processes and plants
  • Investigating and troubleshooting problems
  • Scheduling and coordinating work to tight deadlines and within financial budgets
  • Ensuring that equipment works to its specification and to appropriate capacities

To apply you MUST have or hold:

  • Degree educated in Chemical Engineering as a minimum
  • A minimum of 5 years experiencein a similar role
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Relevant experience in gas abatement processes with Carbon Capture preferred OR experience in anaerobic digestion processes that produce biogas
  • Experience in processes or projects that involve hazardous/flammable areas
  • Experience in supervising other engineering disciplines such as mechanical and electrical
  • Experience in site commissioning and problem solving
  • Communicate project status to various stakeholders
  • Use of CAD/Drawing packages is useful
  • Experience upscaling equipment from prototype to industrial scale (preferred)
  • Use lab data from third parties to effect designs, specifications and operation

This position has the potential to see you grow into Technical Director in the near future.
