Randstad is recruiting for a Qualified Social Worker to join Wigan Council's Fostering/CIC Team. This is a full-time role offering an excellent pay rate of £35 per hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse and complex caseload with a child-centred approach
  • Make effective decisions in recruiting and assessing foster carers to ensure stable placements for children and young people
  • Assess, supervise, and support Friends and Family Foster Carers and prospective Special Guardians to maintain children within their family networks when safe
  • Undertake comprehensive Fostering and SGO assessments of prospective carers
  • Supervise and support foster carers in meeting the needs of looked-after children
  • Attend court as necessary
  • Contribute to the overall development of services for children and their families
  • Conduct child and family assessments in partnership with the child, their parents or carers, and other agencies, ensuring the child's voice is central to the assessment
  • Provide support, guidance, advice, and services to children, young people, and families/carers to address concerns and reassess the child's needs as appropriate
  • Promote the welfare of children and young people in accordance with the Children Act 1989 and other relevant legislation
  • Participate in permanency planning for children, ensuring their holistic needs are met in long-term placements
  • Work in accordance with national and local policies and procedures, utilising law, regulatory, and statutory guidance to inform practice decisions

Requirements:

  • Social Work Degree or equivalent
  • Social Work England registration
  • Enhanced DBS check

Experience:

  • Experience working with children
