Gleeson Recruitment Group have just been briefed on a fantastic opportunity for an experienced PMO Manager to join an industry leading business which will see them support and reshape their current PMO function. This is a group level PMO role and is perfect for someone who has gone into a business and reshaped their PMO function and implement a strict governance process

Overview

The Project Management Office (PMO) Portfolio Manager is responsible for overseeing a diverse portfolio of projects, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and key results. You will play a pivotal role in steering the strategic direction of projects, scheduling, prioritisation, and governance.

The role has no direct reports but is expected to influence project teams and sponsors across the business.

Main purpose & goals

The main purpose of the role is to manage the Group's cross-functional projects supporting the Group's strategic objectives.

The goals of the role are to:

  • Support the Senior Transformation Manager in operating key programme governance controls and processes
  • Manage the workflow of projects into group programmes to prioritise and schedule demand against available resource
  • Collaborate with IT, operations, Finance and other cross-functional teams on scheduling
  • Roll-up status for executive and divisional reporting
  • Lean into project teams to support with initiation, governance and execution where required

Key responsibilities

Acts a senior business partner to project teams and supports the wider data and transformation team:

  • Support the Senior Transformation Manager in the operation of governance processes: to include project initiation, change management, progress measurement and management, clarity on success criteria, to completion.
  • Manage the programme pipeline:

O Support project teams in preparing project initiation documentation and business cases to enable proper scrutiny as part of governance processes, ensuring projects meet business objectives, and resource/time/cost/benefits are well understood and prioritised.

O Assess risks and returns associated with strategic initiatives.

O Support the Senior Transformation Manager in defining KPIs and performance metrics to measure the success of strategic initiatives. Regularly evaluate progress and adjust strategies as needed.

O Support project prioritisation aligned to the businesses strategic objectives by routinely reviewing the in-mind and in-flight projects and supporting the Head of Data and Transformation in challenging where appropriate - including to executive and divisional or segmental leadership.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders:

O Work closely with operational teams, IT, Finance and other department heads to support the definition of project scopes and develop transformation plans.

  • Communicate: support the Head of Data and Transformation in delivery of reporting on programmes and strategic initiatives to executive, support office stakeholders, and divisional and segmental leadership.
  • Oversee project execution: Ensure successful implementation of transformation projects within agreed timelines and budgets through planning and control activities.
  • Change management: Support and educate associates on adoption of transformation initiatives across the organisation.
