Job title: Group Financial Controller
Location: Short walk from Russell Square
Hours: full time - 35 hours
Contract type: Temporary with a very strong possibility of going permanent
Pattern of work: Hybrid - 3 days office based - 2 days from home
Are you a qualified accountant who is passionate about working for a royal historical charity based in the heart of London?
This established but growing charity works with government bodies, local authorities, health care providers and education providers to change policy to better serve children and young people.
The finance functions serve's 12 legal entities and provides accurate and timely financial reports to enable the Board and Senior Management Team to make effective strategic decisions.
In your role as Group Financial Controller, you will take full responsibility for managing and monitoring the finance team systems, policies and procedures to ensure effective delivery across the organisation.
Your duties and responsibilities will include;
- Financial management & accounting: Prepare monthly management accounts, deliver all Board reports
- Create a strong Business Partnering culture - reviewing financial performance of each budget holder and helping them make sound financial decisions
- Assist the CFO in the detailed production of annual cashflow forecasts & budgets
- Audit & Statutory accounting: ensuring the organisation meets its statutory compliance and leading on the audit process including the schedule and auditor's queries
- Oversee that all financial processes and procedures meet business needs
- Manage the finance team
This is a diverse role, and you will be responsible for not only strategic financial input but will also be hands on with financial reporting and analysis.
The skills that you will bring to your role as Group Financial Controller will include;
- Knowledge of charity accounts such as SORP accounting
- Knowledge of corporation Tax and VAT submissions
- Experience of working closely with Board member and Senior Management Group
- Overseeing a finance function and creating efficiencies where possible
- Knowledge of acquisitions and mergers
