Finance Assistant

Seeking an all round Finance Assistant/AP for an office-based role Mon - Friday 9am - 5.30pm with parking on site.

A returning client of ours in logistics industry is looking to hire a Finance Assistant to join their small finance team.

The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years' experience in a Finance or Accounts role having covered areas of accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, bank reconciliations, and general finance tasks. This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our financial operations and reporting to the Financial Controller.

You must be willing to learn and develop on the job as there is potential to grow in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Accounts Payable (AP):
  • Process supplier invoices and ensure timely payments.

  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.

  • Maintain accurate records of all AP transactions.

  1. Accounts Receivable (AR):
  • Generate and send out invoices to customers.

  • Follow up on outstanding invoices and ensure timely collections.

  • Reconcile customer accounts and resolve any discrepancies.

  1. Credit Control:
  • Monitor customer credit limits and manage credit applications.

  • Conduct credit checks and assess creditworthiness of new customers.

  • Implement and maintain credit control procedures to minimize bad debts.

  1. Bank Reconciliations:
  • Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations.

  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies between bank statements and company records.

  • Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded in the accounting system.

  1. General Finance Duties:

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an Accounts Clerk or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures and knowledge of debits and credits
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g.,Sage Accounts).
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education:

  • A degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred or AAT studier or equivalent or will consider 1- 2 years' experience and if you have worked in the freight or logistics sector this is advantageous.
