Are you an experienced Marketing Professional looking to work with one of Europe's leading building materials suppliers?

If so, we are delighted to offer the opportunity to join our Client's successful and rapidly growing business as a Portfolio Manager.

The Company

As part of a large European Group with a history spanning nine decades, our Client is a leading supplier of building materials in the UK with a reputation built on innovation, customer focus and technical excellence.

The business is rapidly expanding due to continued success and growth and are now seeking to add an Experienced Portfolio Manager to their marketing team.

The Role

Reporting to: Head of Marketing

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversee the strategic direction and profit and loss enhancement of our Client's product portfolio. You will be tasked with leveraging customer and market insights to identify customer needs, gaps, and potential opportunities, transforming these into well-defined propositions that align with the business strategy to excel in specifications.

  • Ensure a clear understanding of sector performance and trends, with particular notice to system performance criteria by construction type
  • Assess and analyse competitor portfolios to understand impact and trade-offs of our Client's products versus their direct alternatives
  • Create a network of key customers, at all stages of the value chain, to help gain insights and test propositions
  • Creation of customer frameworks to identify job outcomes, unmet needs and opportunities, compared to the company's ability to deliver with its systems Analysis and Insights
  • Review sector and market performance requirements, and where required, justify, manage and deliver recommendations for NPD and product extensions based on understanding of market opportunities, underserved and overserved needs, gathered from customer & market intelligence
  • Complete product lifecycle management for portfolio; cradle to grave approach (NPD, repositioning, extensions, go or grow)
  • For those opportunities identified in market and customer analysis, define the proposition and deliver to the business strategy and plan of action.
  • Deliver the annual range review for your product categories. Present the range review outcomes and recommendations to the CSG and upon approval activate plans.
  • Manage the development & import of product solutions with robust go-to-market strategy, with commercial programs to deliver against product portfolio objectives and strategies
  • Set, manage and review product KPIs and recommend and implement corrective measures were required to keep the business on track to achieve its budget within the categories/product portfolio you hold responsibility for.
  • Work with the whole Marketing Team to execute with brilliance in the market, ensuring post evaluation to improve future campaigns & programs
  • Ensure all product packaging is compliant to UK and EU regulations
  • Manage a team of 3, which includes Product, and Data & Document Control

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

In order to be successful in this role, you will need a strong commercial acumen coupled with a proven track record in strategic development and experience within the building products industry.

  • CIM Marketing or business qualification
  • Leadership and management experience
  • Able to influence and inspire change at all levels.
  • Commercial and analytical, with experience of working within the construction sector
  • Track record in delivering growth and profitability across a product category
  • Proven record of bringing new products to market
  • Experience of working cross functionally in project management and delivery
  • Highly commercial with the ability to manage budgets and calculate ROI
