Purchase Ledger Clerk

**About the Role:

This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic finance team within a well-established company. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the purchase ledger function, managing high volumes of transactions, and maintaining accurate financial records.

**Key Responsibilities:

  • Invoice Reconciliation: Reconcile invoices against delivery notes or purchase orders to ensure accuracy.
  • Payments to Creditors: Post payments to creditors in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Bank Reconciliations: Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure all financial transactions are accounted for.
  • Supplier Queries: Handle and resolve supplier queries efficiently and professionally.
  • Expense Claims: Process employee expense claims, ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Cheque Issuance: Issue cheques as required for supplier payments and other expenses.
  • Invoice Authorisation: Authorise the payment of invoices according to company procedures.
  • Statement Reconciliations: Conduct statement reconciliations to verify the accuracy of financial records.
  • Coding, Batching, Posting: Accurately code, batch, and post financial data into the accounting system.
  • Supplier Management: Create new supplier codes and maintain the supplier database.
  • Payment Runs: Prepare and execute regular payment runs, including handling transactions in foreign currencies.

**Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent; a relevant accounting qualification is preferred.

  • Experience: Previous experience in a purchase ledger role, particularly with high volumes of transactions.

  • Skills:

  • Strong numerical and analytical abilities.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

  • Familiarity with accounting software.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Attributes:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills.

  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and meeting deadlines.
