£600 per day Inside IR35 | 6-Month Rolling Contract | London-Based | Hybrid Working

A prestigious London-based Local Government organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Finance Manager to take the lead in shaping and managing their financial strategy. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, giving you flexibility while maintaining a significant leadership position within the financial team. Reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Corporate Finance, you will play a critical role in driving the financial performance and strategic direction of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy: Lead the development of the organisation's financial policies and strategies, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, legal requirements, and best value practices.
  • Financial Planning & Reporting: Oversee the creation and continuous update of the medium-term financial strategy. You will also be responsible for the integrity of financial information, ensuring accurate and timely production of statutory accounts and reports to Senior Management, Cabinet, and Committees.
  • Advisory Role: Act as a key financial advisor to senior management, council departments, and external partners. Present and communicate sound financial information to aid decision-making at all levels.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all financial operations adhere to regulatory frameworks, including managing the implementation of financial changes, government initiatives, and the council's risk management strategy.
  • Service Management: Oversee the delivery of high-quality financial services, ensuring efficiency and value for money in services provided by both internal teams and external contractors.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and develop a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and ensuring that the finance function meets its performance targets.
  • Fraud & Risk Management: Implement and promote the council's anti-fraud strategy, ensuring the protection of the organisation's financial assets.
  • Transformation & Change: Lead financial initiatives in line with broader organisational transformation projects, contributing to continuous improvement in service delivery and value for money.

**Principal Accountabilities:

  • Formulate and implement financial policies across the organisation.
  • Manage a section within the finance department, ensuring that services align with the organisation's strategic goals and performance standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial legislation, managing both internal and external audits as needed.
  • Drive value-for-money initiatives and provide strategic financial insight to ensure effective use of resources.
  • Lead and inspire a finance team, ensuring that team members are supported in their professional development.
