Financial Controller / Commodity Controller

We are working with a Global Commodities trading firm, who are looking for a Controller.

This role will give you insights into the working of a £££ billion turnover business. The role allwos for real autonomy as you take control of full front to back accounting.

Your Role

  • Maintain data reconciliation process between source systems and the ledger. This includes maintenance of the bespoke interface between these systems.
  • Understand and document key inter-company relationships and agreements.
  • Maintain controls to ensure that financial processes follow the intention of the agreements, and costs and income are settled and reported accurately in the appropriate company
  • Maintain controls to ensure that accounting records reflect the business activity recorded in key business systems (deal capture etc.)
  • Understand and document any reconciling items and adjustments to business system data
  • Work with operational departments and internal system development to implement improvements
  • Maintain documentation for key processes/ reports/ systems etc.
  • Understanding of exchange traded products and reconciliation with accounting software and broker statements

Systems Skills and Knowledge

  • General Ledger systems experience [required]
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills [essential]
  • Workday/ERP accounting system experience [beneficial]
  • Trading system experience [beneficial]

Your Skills and Qualifications

  • ACA, CIMA, or ACCA Qualified.
  • Experience within a bank, commodity environment, or accounting firm is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for communicating with team members and stakeholders.
  • Be proactive and possess strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks.
