Pay: £21.52 – £22.83 per hour PAYE

Pay: £26.76 - £28.43 per hour Umbrella

We are seeking a driven, ambitious, and politically astute Cabinet Support Officer to join the Leader's Office in a dynamic and progressive London Local Authority. This pivotal role supporting the Leader of the Council, Cabinet, The Chief Executive and the Senior Leadership Team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide policy, research, and administrative support to Cabinet Members, ensuring they can effectively deliver their priorities.
  • Manage a variety of policy areas, from social care and education to improving town centres and supporting families with the cost of living.
  • Build strong relationships across the organisation, collaborating with service departments, senior leaders, and external stakeholders.
  • Manage Cabinet Members' inboxes and diaries, handling casework, emails, and meetings efficiently.
  • Conduct research, draft briefings, and summarise information, ensuring Cabinet Members are well-prepared.
  • Ensure smooth coordination of Cabinet Member meetings, including agenda planning, minute-taking, action logging, and venue arrangements.

You will be working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. Your role will be crucial in maintaining clear communication and effective operations within the Cabinet, ensuring the Council delivers its goals for a safer, stronger, and kinder borough.

Skills and experience:

  • Proven experience providing high-quality briefing, diary management, and administrative support to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in minute-taking and action tracking for meetings.
  • Excellent judgment, political awareness, and discretion.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of local government structures and policy.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise in a fast-moving environment.

You will also support Lead Members and contribute to the Leader's Office as needed, including attending public events and meetings outside regular hours.
