Procurement Specialist

Responsible for managing the procurement process for Engineering Solutions and BRUSH Group HO (total spend approx. £17m per annum), ensuring the business can deliver on operational commitments through effective management of subcontractors and suppliers. Identify opportunities for cost savings, optimize value, and implement new contracts where necessary to enhance operational efficiency and financial performance. You will also be managing the business fleet.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with suppliers. Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing to ensure competitive advantage and adherence to quality standards.
  2. Procurement: Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimise cost, quality, and delivery performance.
  3. Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks in the supply chain process and develop/implement solutions to streamline operations. Continuously evaluate and improve processes to enhance productivity, reduce lead times, and increase overall efficiency.
  4. Quality Assurance: Implement quality control measures throughout the supply chain to ensure compliance with industry regulations and customer requirements.
  5. Risk Management: Identify potential risks and disruptions in the supply chain (e.g., supplier reliability, geopolitical factors) and develop contingency plans to mitigate impact on project delivery.
  6. Reporting and Analysis: Generate regular reports and performance metrics to track key supply chain KPIs (e.g., on-time delivery, inventory turnover). Analyse data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and areas of risk, and present findings to management.
  7. Fleet Management: Consolidating current contracts, negotiating favourable rates. Cost control, fleet replacement, maintenance, asset management, reducing carbon footprint and fuel card management.
  8. Business Improvement: Champion change and support business improvement initiatives. Ensure ERP system design aligns with procurement best practices and business process. Oversee migration of procurement data and accuracy, UAT. Provide post implementation support.

Person Specification

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in supply chain management.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain processes, including procurement, inventory management, logistics, and supplier relationship management.
  • Experience in leading process improvement initiatives and implementing best practices to optimize supply chain efficiency.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques. Experience with ERP systems (e.g. Microsoft Business Central or Navision/Dynamics NAV) is preferred.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive, results-oriented attitude with a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
