Procurement Manager

SF Recruitment are working exclusively with a leading manufacturer & construction services provider in the Stoke on Trent area to recruit a procurement manager. The role is a newly created role to implement group level procurement strategies & processes across direct & indirect spend areas for multiple sites.

The Procurement Manager will lead the sourcing, negotiation, and procurement of materials, equipment, and services required by the company. The Procurement Manager will be responsible for identifying and qualifying suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors, establishing and maintaining strong relationships to enhance group procurement competitiveness. The role involves driving consistency and best practices across the group, developing strategic procurement approaches, to achieve a group procurement function.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Procurement Leadership
  • Lead the procurement activities across the group, ensuring the adoption of best practices.

  • Develop and communicate a procurement business plan aligned with the company's goals.

  • Establish long-term goals for procurement to promote effectiveness and efficiency.

  1. Supplier and Vendor Management
  • Identify and qualify potential suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to secure competitive pricing, favourable terms, and reliable delivery schedules.

  • Conduct regular reviews and consolidations of the Group's supply chain to identify and deliver procurement savings.

  1. Procurement Operations
  • Take ownership of procurement processes across the group, ensuring consistency and efficiency.

  • Develop a strategic approach to purchasing direct and indirect goods/services, leveraging scale opportunities.

  • Support the development and implementation of the new ERP system to automate P2P processes and enhance system controls.

  • Develop key procurement-related Management Information (MI), including supplier spend analysis.

  1. Collaboration and Communication
  • Partner with the wider Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Board to align procurement activities with business needs.

  • Serve as the primary contact for procurement-related questions, policy and procedure interpretation, and alignment across departments.

  • Work with the Training team to deliver procurement-specific training programs.

  1. Performance Management
  • Establish, monitor, and report on procurement KPIs to track performance and savings.

  • Lead on the identification, delivery, and reporting of procurement savings.

  • Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes and systems.

Skillset Requirements:

  • Knowledge of MRP systems, IFS desirable but not essential
  • Manufacturing/Raw materials procurement experience
  • Proven ability developing group level procurement strategies for a range of spend areas
  • Able to work collaboratively with & constructively influence stakeholders at varying levels of seniority.
