Our leading local authority client is seeking a new Debt Recovery Officer to join the team in Usk. Working along side other Debt recovery Officers, you will play a key role in tracking client account debt and contacting clients to support with recovery of overdue payments. Where needed you will visit and engage clients within the community to promote relationship and educate on process

Duties include:

  • Actively pursue the settlement of outstanding payments, as directed either by telephone, letter or personal in line with procedures
  • Maintain an audit trail of all recovery action taken
  • Track and carry out debt checks where necessary
  • Work in collaboration with colleagues to understand specific client needs
  • Track payments collected / mange internal data
  • Where needed, negotiate instalments or payment plans and monitor
  • Prepare and post any write-off debts
  • Create reports on case load to check progress

Experience needed:

  • Local to the area with own transport
  • Excellent people skills and ability to communicate effectively with the public
  • Experience of working with numbers e.g. Finance Administration or credit control
  • Good IT skills e.g. basic use of Excel, word and emails
  • Good organisational skills
  • Ability to work alone or within a team
  • Immediate to start or short notice
