Make a difference for children as a Family Support Worker!

WillisPalmer is looking for experienced Family Support Workers to join our team. Our service focuses on helping parents enhance their parenting skills and ensuring children can live safe and happy lives.

Our Family Support Workers assist families facing parenting challenges. Using your skills and experience, you will provide safe care guidance to parents and deliver positive parenting programs for parents of children ranging from toddlers to teenagers.

Above all, the role of a Family Support Worker is to promote the safety and well-being of children in their parents' care. To ensure we provide the highest standard of safeguarding, WillisPalmer follows the NSPCC Safer Recruitment policy. This policy requires all successful applicants to agree to an Enhanced DBS check and provide a recent professional reference from a position where they have worked directly with children.

This Independent Family Support Worker role offers fantastic opportunities to collaborate with caring and dedicated child protection professionals. Our service provides family support to those with children under Child in Need or Child Protection plans, or involved in Care Proceedings. Therefore, a solid understanding of safeguarding children principles is essential.

We currently offer 12-hour day or night shifts, as well as shorter Family Support sessions, across North London, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.

Person Specification:

Successful applicants will have:

A minimum Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification (or equivalent)

A minimum of 12-months' Family Support Worker experience with parents, children, or young people in their homes and communities

Excellent timekeeping

Ability to type reports using MS Word (or similar) and send by email

Ability to use MS Teams for video sessions

Ability to provide factual, concise session reports about a parent's care of their children and family functioning.

Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team of Family Support Workers and social workers.

We welcome applications from candidates with skills or experience in the following areas: Family Support, Children's Social Care, Level 3 Health and Social Care, positive parenting facilitator, foster carer, health visitor, social worker.

Additional Information:

Work is assignment based and availability of hours varies from week to week. This is not an employed role - Independent Family Support Workers must be registered as a limited company, or with a UK based umbrella company (we cannot work with sole traders).
