Brief Overview of the role The ideal tutor will have knowledge and experience of supporting primary aged pupils within an educational setting, and have supported pupils with additional needs. You need to be confident in identifying areas of learning that need focusing on and adapting learning to the pupils individual needs and EHCP targets. The pupil requiring tuition has a diagnosis of ASD and is learning to deal with high levels of anxiety, which is preventing them from accessing school. I am seeking a tutor who can tailor their planning based on the year 2 curriculum and incorporate selected targets from the EHCP. Person Specification The ideal tutor should possess a strong academic background. They must exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students of diverse ages and learning abilities. Adaptability, patience, and a passion for education are essential traits for fostering a supportive learning environment. Qualifications & Experience Possession of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent qualification, alongside tutoring experience, is indispensable. Relevant experience in working with young people not attending mainstream education due to behavioural issues or Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Expertise in specific subjects or extensive tutoring experience in English, Maths, and/or Science. Familiarity with disengaged young people or those in the care system, including experience, knowledge, and understanding. Either possessing an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check on the update service or being willing to obtain one. Understanding of and experience with Safeguarding practices.
