Design and Development Engineer Job Type: Full-time Location: Aycliffe, UK Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 We are seeking a Design & Development Engineer to join our fantastic clients team in Newton Aycliffe. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and design of new and existing products within the building sector. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in polymer engineering or materials science, and a passion for innovation in the fenestration industry. Day to Day of the role: Design new product solutions and develop existing products within the framework of on-site development activities. Provide expertise in thermoplastic extrusion, promoting the technology and managing specific project responsibilities. Lead trials, mainly in extrusion, to support customers and internal development, creating prototypes, analysing data, and documenting results. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate innovation initiatives and product development processes. Manage new product development projects from concept to production release. Stay updated with material technology advancements and industry trends, integrating new technologies into the production process. Organise project meetings, define deliverables, monitor timelines and resources, and report on deviations. Validate new designs, processes, and materials through testing and evaluation. Conduct product functional analysis to translate customer specifications into product performance criteria. Produce reports and presentations for the internal team and customers. Required Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor's or master's degree in polymer engineering, materials science (or a related field). Minimum of 5 years' experience in the plastics industry and engineering discipline. Proficiency in thermoplastic elastomers extrusion processes. Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects. Project management skills with the capacity to lead innovative and new project developments. Innovative mindset with the ability to suggest and implement process modifications. Proactive approach to learning about new and existing technologies. About you You have 3 years' experience as a Business Analyst ideally supported by professional qualifications such as ISEB, BCS, etc. You have previous experience of User Story based requirements writing.
