A Machine Operative is required to join an industrial recycling company in the Wednesbury / Darlaston area. You will be responsible for the running of a newly installed, industrial-grade, battery shredding machine. The shredder processes large amounts of batteries, shredding through multiple stages, before automatically sorting the end materials. You will be responsible for consistently running the machine, ensuring there is always a steady flow of materials going in. Your duties will include; Loading materials into the shredder Operating the machine Dealing with any issues during processing Unloading the machine once materials sorted Adhering to strict health and safety guidelines at all times For this Machine Operative role, ideally you will have experience running machinery in an industrial setting, and you MUST be flexible to work rotating shifts, including nights. Working days initially, moving onto a morning / afternoon 2-shift pattern after a few months, then eventually a 3-shift pattern including nights within 1-2 years. The hours / rates are; Initially days: Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 3:00pm Switching to: Monday to Friday, 6am - 2pm / 2pm - 10pm Rate of pay is £14.30 per hour for 37.5 hours per week. This is a temp-to-perm role, offering weekly pay whilst on the agency. The rate of pay includes shift allowance from day 1 whilst working days, so the rate won't go up when moving onto rotating mornings / afternoons, however, when the night shift comes in, you will get an increase when working nights to £16.02. Responsibilities of the Operations Manager: Defining the Operational & Maintenance Strategy. Maintain accurate stock records and ensure optimised levels of working capital and all works consumables to ensure performance levels to customers are maintained. To implement a preventative maintenance strategy that minimises downtime and ensures all operations are legally compliant. Manage all the office and works facilities to maintain the standards of the buildings and ensure comfort and effectiveness from all staff. Requirements of the Operations Manager: Have a good understanding of steel as a material and steel production. Hold up to date knowledge of hazards and safety precautions used in the manufacturing industry. Have high standards of expectations of themselves, their team and the quality of product and service offered by the company. Be able to work in a fast paced and reactive environment. Have excellent communication skills and able to engage with all stakeholders. Have excellent organisation and problem-solving skills. Able to demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Be IT literate with excellent numeracy skills.
